Last interaction I had with Capital City was on pick-up day. I spoke with receptionist Lindy to ask for clarification on the pick-up time of the car I am selling to them, and her responses were unnecessarily snarky and passive-aggressive. It’s amazing to me that I’m having what I think is a normal check-in and a business’s representative speaks in that manner, to a customer. A failure to appreciate that I don’t *have* to give them business, if they can’t treat me decently. I would think either the work culture there sucks and she’s taking it out on those over the phone, or there’s a personal issue that this person is not able to leave at home.

Additionally, it has taken them 1.5 weeks to pick up my car. I do understand my car is located in a different county from them. Initially, when Capital City was the vendor to win the bid for my car, they were supposed to contact me. I called them for 5 days and left 2 voicemails, and they finally answered the phone by the following week. No apology. I wasn’t looking for one, and I wouldn’t have written this review at all, if it weren’t for that last exchange with Lindy. That was too much. I take offense to disrespect, and I’m half-thinking about canceling this transaction altogether.

I wouldn’t know about this auctioneer on the buyer end of things, but I’ve had an unpleasant time dealing with them on the acquisition & customer experience side. Do with that what you will.

This “auction” is an absolute scam and is going to get shut down for the way they do business and ill be having my guys over at BBB investigate and more importantly will be notifying/filing with the CA Department Of Motor Vehicles Occupational Licensing Dept. Used to be open to the public but are now required to sell to dealer only. They are selling donated vehicles as well consignments vehicle by other dealers. They are licensed dealer #06237. They have a shop/tools/scanners where they work on/erase engine lights on these DONATED cars to try and get the most money out of them by doing a horrible “detail” on specific cars they think are going to bring money and unfortunately dealers fall for it and get scammed out of thousands. They will update pictures and listing description as they work on the car. Example is couple weeks ago I saw a Challenger that was donated that had a description for “Knocking, tapping,” then the next day it was detailed and cleaned up with only “tapping”?! What pushed me to write this review was a car coming up for auction with proof below. A BMW X5 diesel that I can CEARLY see the engine light on in one pic and then updated pics show it “detailed” with no engine light. So they pick and choose which ones. Some they smog and even after the smog they say “engine light on after smogging”. And if you are not happy they will say you can leave the car for 750 (used to be 450) and they’ll refund you and repost the car again without stating the issue in the post that made you leave it. Oh and their fees are ridiculous! after the bid goes past like 2000 youre paying additional 800-900 in fees!
